Sésamath The association was formally cos established October 31, 2001. We find the complete history of the association on its website. It shows in a first phase (2001-2006) the number of projects to multiply in related areas, in particular the development of interactive exercises and collective textbooks. Hundreds of francophone contributors invent a form of collective work remotely by creating the necessary tools to advance their trade.
In a second phase (2006-2011), cos projects tend to focus around cos meta-projects focusing on users and uses: LaboMEP site allows teachers to create workouts for students in the classroom or home, the Mathenpoche site address directly to students and their parents as part of the educational support.
During these 10 years, 2,000 animations, interactive exercises in 1600, 1000 and animated exercises corrected by more than 3,000 digital supplements were created, generating 90 million visits to different sites Sésamath.
In 2012, Sésamath wants to produce new paper media for educational support for college students: notebooks Mathenpoche. Part of this work has already been downloaded from the Mathenpoche site.
Since 2005, over one million cos paper books (workbooks, textbooks) free licenses were sold by 3 partners Sésamath publishers. The (Gnu-FDL CC-By-SA /) license associated with his works allows everyone to download the sources (open format ODT) and change, for example, to adapt them to students. Sésamath and promotes professional cos approach of mathematics teachers.
But this does not absolutely prevent cos the sale of textbooks associated papers at moderate prices (5.20 euros for books 120 pages and 11 euros for textbooks). The proof is done in time: one can quite reconcile open licenses allowing customization of content with sustainable business models.
In your previous interview with our site, you say that "over 50% of math teachers cos use Sésamath". Success is there, a year later, still waiting for you?
The use of tools Sésamath continues to grow and expand. In particular, many francophone colleagues adapt the content produced in France for use in other school systems and in turn create new content quite adaptable for France. cos Creating an association Sésamath Switzerland fits into this context. cos It is also a very rewarding opportunity to horizontal exchange between teachers from different countries.
Labomep the project was the flagship project of 2011 and will continue for 2012. Most studies on the current use of digital textbooks show that these tools are used for frontal teaching: tools for direct cos use by students in the classroom or at home is currently identifies very little. The application makes LaboMEP exception. More than one million students (1 student on 4 France) were enrolled by their teachers. This tool allows to easily create sessions potentially different for each student. It proves to be an excellent adjunct professor for individualized pedagogy.
In LaboMEP, individualization does not rhyme with exclusion since the application is freely accessible by all teachers. Several academies in the costs incurred by LaboMEP, especially for its integration into Digital Work Spaces.
