I own a macro lens for very small items such as a ring or a small hair clip and photograph basically a tripod. A macro lens then you will bring out when you want to photograph something really close. You certainly know these big beautiful detailed shots of flowers or insects? These are macro shots. Such macro lenses can only create macro shots, but those are really convincing.
Macro lenses have an extremely short depth of field - so short that you can photograph a bee, in which the wing in the foreground halloween sharp and everything is out of focus in the background. I photograph here exclusively in landscape mode.
My second and heavily halloween used lens is a 18-200 mm zoom lens from Tamron. This lens can actually use for anything. You have wide-angle to telephoto settings, without that you have to change the lens. The lens is compact and lightweight yet still affordable compared.
