Today is, as you already know, International Women

Today is, as you already know, International Women's Day, which was instituted in 1910 by Clara Zetkin. The day is meant as a protest day where women unite in the fight for justice and solidarity. Today it seems unfortunately in many places the political aspect have drained and some believe that Women's Day, like Mother's or Father's Day is a day that is to say congratulations to women, or give away a flower or so.
Since March 8 is a day of struggle and to draw attention to the gender inequalities that exist in society so figured I pay attention to a survey conducted by the LO who just came out and that, not surprisingly, showed that women, and especially working women, point by point got worse numbers than men when it came to issues of pay, unsafe working conditions, exposure to violence, participation in the workplace and physical and psychological malaise. But it also shows that women are still those who absolutely have primary responsibility for planning and executing domestic and caring work.
So when we go out today and demonstrates that it is the knowledge that we still have much to fight for, that equality does not have "gone too far". But I think after all this we also have reason to celebrate how far we have actually come since 1910. So I wish you all a very nice 8 March with the hope of what we will be able to accomplish to come!
