Once Upon a Time in Anatolia by the Turkish master Nuri Bilge Ceylan, in which three police cars overnight crisscross the splendid Anatolia driving around looking for the body of a murdered man, is a subtle combination of a road movie, crime drama and character study; a touch of Chekhov and pure poetry. The film is beautifully photographed, framed and sophisticated as spectacular as understated acting, and was at the Cannes festival rightly awarded the Grand Prize, the second most important prize of the festival.
